Yubo was previously known as Yellow. It is a French social networking application incepted in 2015 by TWELVE APP. The primary purpose of establishing the application is to create a meeting place for people as they form a happy community. Since the foundation of the application, it has continued to expand, recording a subscription of over 60 million individuals in 2022. Three friends launched the startup while still studying at a university in Paris. The creators wanted to create a socializing space for people who shared the same interest across the globe. The application also helps people to watch videos and play games.
Recently, Yubo announced it would begin to verify the identity of its 60 million users. So far, the organization has already identified most of its subscribers. The main purpose of carrying out the identification process is to ensure the security of young users and protect them from child abuse. The application only serves users under 50 years and over 13 years. The application is developed in such a way that minors are separated from adults using the application. The company cannot ask for its clients’ identification cards because most minors do not have identity cards, so it is working with Yoti. This company helps identify its users’ age by taking photos and short videos. The management says that the technology gets 98.9% accuracy when identifying the application users. It began by verifying the ages of those users who were 13 and 14 years, and they later went to verify the older age. iPhone users were the first to be verified, followed by android users.
Yubo says if any of its users have an issue with Yoti’s identification, they must bring their ident0fication cards to the company. Lazimi is the co-creators and the Chief Executive officer of Yubo, and he says they aim to promote safety in the application.
