Randy Douthit is an American director and producer specialising in creative video production. He is best known for working on the hit television series “Mythbusters” on Discovery Channel.
He has also been involved with many other TV productions such as “The Big Black Thing”, “Ghost Trackers”, and many more projects as a director, producer, writer and executive producer.
Randy Douthit has a Bachelor of Arts degree from California State University in Northridge with an emphasis in Communications, Cinema-Television and Drama. He also went to Loyola Marymount University to study film-making, where he was awarded the prestigious Sidney Lumet Award for Excellence in Directing. He also did a lot of commercial work for Sony Corporation in LA and other companies around Southern California.
His works include “Bad To The Bone”, “Exchange”, “The Big Black Thing”, and “Hobgoblins”. Randy is currently working on many projects with his company, Big Salt Films, including projects for Discovery Channel, History Channel, A&E Network, and other major networks.
He holds black belts in two different schools of Kung Fu combined with an additional black belt in the Russian Martial Art Systema. He has also produced and directed a feature movie, “A Warrior’s Journey”, released in the summer of 2008.
He has produced, written and directed over 100 productions for television, documentary and interactive media, and live events. He is producing a new international martial arts reality show with broadcasters in China, India, Europe and South America. He has also been very active in the industry on the internet since 1995 when he launched his website www.RandysRedRoom.com, which quickly became one of the biggest websites on the internet dealing with martial arts movies and entertainment news.
He is currently the executive producer of the most viewed martial arts news online, with over 150,000 unique monthly visitors. He also produces and directs most shows on his YouTube Channel (www.youtube.com/user/MaverickMoviesTV ), viewed monthly by over 200,000 people worldwide. His Russian Martial Art Systema Channel (www.youtube.com/user/russiansystema ) is also very popular and has become an internet phenomenon with hundreds of thousands of views worldwide.
He has also produced “Project Black Flag”, a documentary that explores America’s involvement in the Middle East and its effects on fighting terrorism throughout America.
